Montessori Curriculum
Our Montessori program is designed to nurture independence, concentration cooperation and respect. Early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a persecuted course but rather to encourage the child’s own natural desire to learn.
At Learning Curves Montessori Nursery we support each child by helping the child perfect his or her natural tools for learning, so that the child’s abilities will be maximized for future learning situations
Our curriculum is developed from three critical components:
Montessori – Providing a prepared environment with teachers that nurture independence, concentration, cooperation and respect while focusing on each child’s unique learning style and encouraging the child’s own natural desire to learn.
Te Whariki – The National Curriculum for Early Childhood Education, which empowers children to learn and grow in a holistic way through developing children’s sense of well being, belonging, contribution, communication and exploration skills in a safe and secure environment which honours and respects them and their families/whanau.
Emergent – Based on children’s interests, learning style and dispositions. Through observation, our skilled teachers notice and record children’s activity choices and interest and plans ways to extend and develop these further. This allows children the opportunity to gain independence and direct their own learning.
